The Fourteas
The Fourteas is not just a cup of tea; it's an experience!

The Fourteas Story a success
story!

The Fourteas is today, probably the most popular Tearoom brasserie in Warwickshire! Without exaggeration!

The queues outside our door in the weekends, our numerous awards, the excellent reviews we attract and above all our very large numbers of repeat clients, strongly suggest that we must be doing something right!

The Fourteas is very much a customer and service-orientated Tearoom brasserie. With a theme too. That of the Forties! The obvious pun is well intended!

Zenios, our Business owner, suggests that he wanted a theatrical theme to the Tearoom brasserie – which is situated just 100 meters from the Royal Shakespeare Theatre - and the 1940s was a time when the British people came together and made most of what they could source locally, in terms of Food. It seemed the ideal period to place the theme chronologically. In the Forties the people were using pure ingredients and traditional, well tested recipes without too much fuss. Good quality ingredients produce great products and when that end-result is offered to the Public with a huge dose of good old-fashion personal service, then Success should be expected! That Success naturally followed and it is growing by the day, as The Fourteas Brand is constantly enhanced with additional items and ideas.

But there is more to it, than just the 1940s theme.

Zenios is an ex hotel-Manager, with a London Ritz work experience behind him. He will always carry with him fond memories of his days there, when Afternoon Tea at the hotel’s Palm Court was -still is- a revered experience of a very British tradition. When scones with strawberry jam and clotted cream and cucumber sandwiches become, daily, the object of desire for so many of the hotel’s noble, or not so noble but affluent clients. Little did he know then, that one day he would be offering the same food pleasures in his own Tea Room at, of course, a fraction of the price.

The Fourteas is Zenios’ big love! Although, to some the Tea Room is a thing of the past, his own version is obviously popular and well received amongst all the generations. A sheer pleasure for all the senses. Good hearty Food, the best Tea and Coffee in town, pleasant and amicable Staff and a nostalgic Forties Ambience which is obvious the minute somebody enters the Lounge! A unique, different product with masses of a character which cannot be found in today’s modern chain Cafes.

The Fourteas is here to stay! Because at the Fourteas we are constantly in Celebration of Life!!

We hope you will enjoy your visit to ‘The Fourteas’ as much as we will enjoy welcoming you to the ‘40s.

The Fourteas interior design!

Our Decor, Ambience and Style have been specifically designed to indicate a vintage, old, worn out and tired, war-times vintage tea room as one would naturally look in the forties during World War II.

While we appreciate and respect some of our customers observations, who mistakenly consider it being so as a result of neglect and indifference, we would like to inform them that we purposely mean it to look like that way and that considerable funds have been paid to achieve the aging appearance.

A 1940s war-torn tea room could not possibly have polished floors and freshly decorated walls hence we are looking forward to your understanding and acceptance of our style.

Our Teas

Golden Monkey Tea Company

The Fourteas Blend

We are proud of the Teas we serve and in particular THE FOURTEAS BLEND which is a unique Blend exclusively created for us!

The Blend consists of only the finest, high grown fruity Ceylon and a rich and smoky Keemun from China. It is delicious with or without milk and has been tested many times over with selective light bites and above all with the full Afternoon Tea to which it has become an essential accomplice.

All of our tea is supplied by The Golden Monkey Tea Company – an independent tea merchant that carries over 50 different types of fine fresh tea. We use about half of them to the delight of our Connoisseur Guests who are presented with a huge choice.

The teas are made only from natural products and have been ethically sourced. The Golden Monkey Tea Company was started in November 2008 and since then it has been selling delicious teas and fabulous accessories from all over the world. The idea for the shop stems from a long passion of its owner Maria, for tea and its history and the realisation that few traditional tea merchants still exist in Britain.

More About Teas

The tea plant is an evergreen that mainly grows in tropical and sub-tropical climates, although tea is now also successfully being cultivated in Cornwall. It is now grown in 51 countries. Good quality tea requires no less than 50 inches of rainfall per year and is grown at altitudes of up to 1500m (5000 feet).

China and India are the biggest tea producers in the world and account for 50% of the total production.

All tea varieties, including Green, White, Oolong, Black and Pu Erh, come from the same plant, Camellia sinensis. It is the production process used after picking and the percentage of oxidation that determines the variety of tea it becomes. For example, green tea is 0% oxidized (remains green) and black tea is 100% oxidized (it becomes black).

In most cases, when picked in an orthodox way (by hand), only the top 1-2 inches are picked, which consists of the bud and one or two leaves. Often, the newer the growth the better the tea. Especially the first picking of the growing season is considered (the highest quality and is) the most priced. This is known as the first flush. It can take up to 10 days for the plant to produce the second flush.
